Kellogg Elementary Trip
I enjoyed getting to visit the model school at Kellogg Elementary last week known as the "June Harless Center for Rural Educational Research and Development." It was really awesome to actually get to see the 21st methods we have been discussing in class put to use in a real life school setting. Seeing all the advanced technology in that school made me really excited to become a teacher. Before the trip, it was a little difficult for me to understand the difference between what I had been exposed to in school and the new 21st century way of learning, but having the experience of visiting Kellogg made it much more realistic for me instead of something that just sounded like a good idea. Since I am a secondary education major, I am looking forward to seeing the continuing growth of this school with their goals of moving on to the middle school and high school levels. Although this is only one of the few schools actually implementing 21st Century Education, I think it is exciting to know that it will only continue to improve and hopefully be more wide-spread by the time I graduate and become a teacher.
